What is Athlete’s Foot?

It is a skin condition commonly found in feet and toes, also known as tinea pedis ringworm of the feet. The fungi responsible causes the skin of your feet and toes develop painful and itchy blisters as well as dry, scaly patches on the skin. Possible growth of the fungi is caused by weak immune system of the body or poor hygienic practice.

Prevention of Athlete’s Foot

  • Wash feet everyday and keep it dry. Avoid sharing slippers, shoes and socks.
  • Do not wear same pair of shoes for two days and keep them dry.
  • Always wear socks made of wool, cotton and natural organic materials.
  • Always keep your feet dry, use a foot powder.

Athlete’s Foot Home Treatment

Garlic Treatment – Mash garlic and make it into a paste using oil and rub it on the inflicted area. You can also use garlic powder to dust your feet. For added measure, you can also place garlic bits inside your shoes.

Tea Tree Oil Foot Bath – Get a small tub of water then add few drops of tea tree oil and soak your feet. You can also add vinegar to Tea tree oil and apply it on the affected area using a cloth.

Footbath - Place 3 drops of peppermint oil, 5 drops of sage oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil into a warm basin of water. Soak your feet for 15 minutes and make sure to towel your feet dry.
